Rosh Hashanah (the Jewish New Year 5768) commences this year at sundown on Wednesday, September 12, 2007.
The annual joint greeting card project of Jewish Prisoner Services International and the Aleph Institute will once again be shipping out free packets of Rosh Hashanah cards for Jewish inmates to send to their families and friends. As this is a traditional Jewish practice, we are requesting your help in getting these cards to as many Jewish inmates as possible.
Rosh Hashanah greeting card packets will not be sent directly to inmates. They will be shipped in bulk to staff chaplains or contract rabbis for distribution to individual inmates. As each packet will include Chanukah cards, it will not be necessary to separately request these cards. A limited number of High Holiday prayer books are also available on a first come, first served basis and can be requested by indicating the number needed on the form.
In order for us to know how many card packets should be provided to each facility, please print out and accurately complete the form and return it to us (by mail, fax, or e-mail attachment as a Microsoft Word document) no later than August 15th. Packets will then be mailed prior to Rosh Hashanah via the U.S. Postal Service.
Thank you for your assistance.
